Sweden To Join NATO-Led Operation In Libya
Venit enim Filius hominis quaerere et salvum facere, quod perierat. (Luke 19:10)
The Local reports the Swedish government has given the green light to send eight JAS Gripen fighters to Libya following a request from the NATO General Secretary, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, for Swedish assistance.
During an extra meeting Tuesday the Swedish government decided to propose to the Riksdag that Sweden contribute to the NATO-led military attack on Libya.
Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said: "The government has decided today ... to put to parliament the proposal to participate with JAS Gripen jets in the international military operation in Libya under the leadership of NATO".
The Swedish contribution will be on the condition that the Gripen fighters only are used to keep up the no-fly zone and not to attack land-based targets.
Meanwhile, an opinion poll in the Swedish daily socialist newspaper Aftonbladet, currently shows 53 percent of the Swedish population is in favor of bombing Gaddafi's troops.
The Swedish government has announced that Swedish PM Reinfeldt will meet visiting NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Stockholm on Thursday.
As Sweden is a member of the European house, no membership in NATO is required to participate for the common good.
It is a wise decision to send Swedish fighter jets to keep discipline and order in the turbulent Mediterranean region.
Sweden is furthermore the old Israeli warrior tribe Naphtali.
It is better to die standing, than to live on your knees.
