Scientists: Moon Created By A Nuclear Explosion On Earth
Et erunt signa in sole et luna et stellis, et in terris pressura gentium prae confusione sonitus maris et fluctuum. (Luke 21:25)
The Times of India reports lunar samples show that the Moon is almost identical in chemical composition to the Earth.
Therefore two scientists believe the Moon did not break away from the Earth because of an impact or an explosion in space, but because of a nuclear explosion on Earth itself.
If the Moon had been separated from the Earth by an impacting external force, it would be composed of whatever knocked into it and the planet.
Rob de Meijer at University of the Western Cape and Wim van Westrenen at VU University in Amsterdam believe the Moon was blasted out of the Earth by a nuclear explosion on our planet, according to Daily Mail.
Because lunar samples show that the Moon is almost identical in chemical composition to the Earth, no impactor was involved.
The scientists say that their theories could be proved if future Moon missions are able to bring lunar samples from greater depths.
Voila, one more reason to send people to the Moon!
